This page features art created by Somatic Therapy practitioners, trainees and clients. It is a celebration of Creativity; one of the ways the soul expresses itself. Each is inspired by their experience of somatic therapy and an appreciation of the wisdom inherent in our bodies.

What if you knew you mattered?
Would your breath easily expand as your chest softens, no longer needing to take up little space?
What if you knew you mattered?
Would your heart beat out a rhythm of love and kindness, freed of the need to protect from the harsh loneliness?
What if you knew you mattered?
Would your stomach unknot as the nots of your existence are removed by the importance of your being?
What if you knew you mattered?
Would your spine lengthen into your up-right-fullness?
What if you knew you mattered?Would your feet plant firmly on the ground certain that you do belong on this earth.
What if you knew you mattered?
Would your legs strengthen in their resolve to support your stand for what you know is your truth.
What if you knew you mattered?
Would your knees express their natural flexibility as you move through an adventurous terrain?
What if you knew you mattered?
Would your face greet others with a generous open smile welcoming caring connections?
What if you knew you mattered?
Would you ears feel the embrace of loving music, words and intentions meant to fill places left empty from a distracted and coarse past?
What if you knew you mattered?
Would you skin tingle as it receives the touch of a hand gently cradling your precious body?
What if you knew you mattered?
Would your voice confidently sound out loud, no longer silenced from words swallowed back?
What if you knew you mattered?
Would your hands awaken soulful stirrings as they tenderly touch others in the places yearning for contact and recognition?
What if you knew you mattered?
Would your soul rejoice in the blessed union of emotions, mind, body and spirit as you joyously express your uniqueness in this world?
What if you knew you mattered?

CHRIS HAMMER, Master Trainer: For all of my life, I have loved making art however when it came time to make an academic choice, I gave into conventionality and cultural pressure to pursue what was considered a sensible and stable profession: Physical Therapy. Art making then became my “hobby”. I spent many years in conflict with my artist self though always doing some form of art.

Through my many years exploring my own bodymind, emotions and spirit as well as helping others as a bodymind practitioner I have connected with that inner artist, present since an early age. I now am a prolific healing artdoll artist and puppeteer, using this medium to help others connect to their soul’s longing to bring into manifestation their inner dreams.

ART DOLLS by Chris Hammer

Harriet Tubman as Metaphor- by Chris Hammer

Harriet Tubman was a transformational figure in our American history. She followed her soul’s calling to free herself from the chains of slavery. Once she was free and with her steady reliance on Spirit, Harriet guided others on the Underground Railroad to their freedom. We can be inspired by Harriet’s journey as it can be seen as a metaphor for our own lives. We all can shake the chains of our personal places of enslavement. Through the transformation of touch; touching through presence, words, heart and hands, we can be guided to express our own soul’s expression of happiness. Then, like Harriet and through Transformational Touch, we can help others discover their birthright- freedom; the soul’s dwelling place. Poetry & Art  = SOMATRY by Chris Hammer

Somatry: Poetry of the soma: an expressive art method that uses the body to form and inform an experience, thought, feeling, and awareness. Feelings, thoughts, and beliefs are story-ed in the body as movement, posture, and emotions. These stories can be accessed through somatic awareness, word and art.

Somatry becomes a personal story releasing stories allowing for a fuller expression of self- body, mind emotions and spirit.
